THE Forward In Action for Education, Poverty and Malnutrition (FAce-PaM), a Non-Governmental Organization based in Bauchi State has commenced its empowerment Programme that will impact the lives of children, women and the less privileged in Jigawa and other States in the North East and North West Nigeria.
The Executive Director of FAcE-PaM, Mr. Ado Solomon, disclosed this recently in an interview with THE NIGERIA STANDARD in his office in Bauchi ahead of the occasion which would engage stakeholders of Jigawa State.
The Executive Director said that FAcE PaMs' major objective is to empower the people at the grassroots especially the marginalized, women and children that had a challenging livelihood.
According to him, "we essentially concentrate on educating the young people and adolescent girls and women. We are also interested in ensuring that the poverty level of people at that leave is reduced significantly through empowerment and programs that focus on. self-sufficiency and reliance and encouragement to use the little resources at their disposal to improve their lives.
"In the area of nutrition, our people especially those in the rural areas are used to just one type of food so, we want to help them improve their nutritional status using the local things they have at hand by encouraging them to make vegetables gardens and also eat chicken and eggs that they rare at home.
"We are going to implement this Programme in six States: Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Sokoto and Yobe States.
Solomon, however, expressed concern about the lean finances they have to work with. We would love to expand the same project to other States of the Federation, because government generally had focused issues like nutrition.
He, therefore, called on spirited individuals, organizations and donors to extend their hands to this cause and help these categories of people and save our society from avoidable health challenges that may lead to the death of poor Nigerians.
