HEALTH CARE WORKERS TRAINING on IFAS, BCI STRATEGY AND GENDER NORMS IN YOBE STATE.
The training which was conducted on the 19 and 20/01/2022.
was aimed at improving Health Care Worker's knowledge on IFAS. In attendance were 20 Health Care Workers from the two LGAs of the project implementation, FAcE- PaM and SWODEN (TCDI) Teams.
The methodology adopted for the training was discussions, group work and group presentations.
Topics Covered include an 'Over view of BCI Strategy and Gender Mainstreaming in BCI'.
Late coming to facility, Health Care Workers attitude toward patients and care givers, poverty, lack of support from men and absence or low level of information were identified as barriers to accessing Health Care. At the end of the training, participants were asked to share their work plans, points for dissemination of BCI Messages.
The following points were identified as critical: immunization centers, Health Talks during ANC, Home visits, naming ceremonies (suna), Weddings, Community Mobilization and Sensitization. The participants will be tracked using the monthly monitoring, progress reports, using existing or developed monitoring tools.
The participants ( Health Care Workers) knowledge was tested before and after the training ( pre and post testing).
The participants gave assurance to support the project and to also change their ways of operation.
At the end, a social media platform ( WhatsApp group) was created for participants and project team engagements and dissemination of information.
